Marjorie “Jane” Shaffer passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Tampa, Florida. She was born on October 22,1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Marjorie and Ralph Burdsall.
Jane was a God-Honoring follower of Jesus who not only shared God’s love with others, but lived her life in a way that depicted the love of Jesus to anyone she interacted with. In addition to her work and dedication to several ministries, Jane also started her own non-profit, Jane’s Gathering Place, which provided Biblical counseling to abandoned and abused women. Jane was a spiritual mentor to many and will be remembered for her selflessness, kind nature, and generous heart. During her many years working for Harris Corporation she was recognized for her philanthropy and achieved the “Volunteer of the Year Award”, amongst many others. Jane welcomed many into her life and home, treating them as family, by creating special memories through her hospitality and love of hosting meals and events at her home and elsewhere.
Jane experienced many adventures throughout her life and was known for her amazing singing talent. She studied at The Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and performed for several years as a big band singer. Throughout her life Jane lived in Ohio, Washington, D.C., and California before making Florida her long-term home. Jane was a strong woman who raised two sons, Jim and Michael. She was immensely supportive of her sons and their ambitions and encouraged their musical talent and passion.
Jane was incredibly proud of her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, “Nana”, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie, and Ralph Burdsall. Jane is survived by her beloved sons Jim (Alina) and Michael (Celena); grandchildren Madison, Lennon, Nolan, Camryn, Caydyn, Iziana, Izaias; brothers Tom (Mel) and Gary (Jean) and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service which will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Noon (with a viewing from 11:30am – 12:00pm) at First Baptist Church of Melbourne at 3301 Dairy Rd in Melbourne Fl, followed by burial services at 2:00pm at Florida Memorial Gardens at 5950 US1, Rockledge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nana’s House Nanas House
