Patricia Anne Skinner passed away on February 8, 2024, at the age of 96. Patricia, well known as Pat, was born in Ocala, Florida on March 23, 1927 to Roy Ellesworth Ayers and Mary Hoyt Martin. Her early days were spent in Leesburg, Florida and on her grandparents’ farmland where she enjoyed helping on the farm, tending plants, and spending time outdoors. Throughout High School she was a member of the Glee Club and played piano. During her senior year of high school, she moved to Melbourne where she graduated. Patricia pursued her higher education at Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University). She later attended the University of Miami where she became a Sigma Kappa sorority sister and earned her bachelor’s degree in education.

After college, she married the late Livingston Barwick, Jr. and had two daughters, Karen Lea and Patti Lynn. She was an Elementary School Teacher in Brevard County for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and visiting with her grandchildren, often taking them to the pool. Later in life she reunited with her high school sweetheart Benjamin “Gordon” Skinner. They were happily married for over 20 years until his passing in 2012. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Gordon Skinner, daughter Patti Lynn Hager and sister Florence Kearney. She is survived by her daughter Karen Lea Barwick, granddaughters Kristin Ostrofsky, Stefanie Dunathan and Julianna Hamberger, great-granddaughters Katelynn and Lillian Ostrofsky, and siblings Virginia Anderson and Roy Ellsworth Ayers, Jr.

Pat will be remembered for her warm smile and lively conversations. She loved to catch up with family and friends and reminisce about the past. She always had a story to share.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 2 pm at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne. Flowers may be sent to Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home.
