Ruth S. Medinger, 95, a musician and retired music teacher, passed away Thursday June 1, 2023.
She was born in Bangor, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1928 and lived and worked many years as a music teacher in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
Ruth received her first marimba for her seventh birthday. West Chester University is where she received her Bachelor and Masters degrees in music.
Upon retirement, she moved with her husband to Melbourne in 1995. She soloed marimba and played in the Melbourne Band, Orchestra, and Colony Music Makers.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Luther Medinger and her parents Clayton Shimer and Ruth Rader.
Ruth is survived by her three sons Karl Medinger of Ocean Shores, Washington; Gary Medinger of West Melbourne, Florida and Mark Medinger of Bullard, Texas; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service that celebrates her life will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church at 106 N. Riverside Drive, Indialantic at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
