Dr. Marta Victoria Martínez Gutiérrez was born in San José de los Ramos, Cuba on February 8, 1936 to the late Mario Martínez and Victoria Gutíerrez. During her childhood she attended various schools in Matanzas, and proceeded to complete her high school education at Colegio La Progresiva in Cárdenas. She attended the University of Havana, where she studied odontology. Marta married Dr. Raimundo Dante in 1958. In 1959, due to political unrest in Cuba, they moved to Maracaibo, Venezuela, where they kept a successful dental practice. The family moved to Puerto Rico in 1967, where she graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dentistry in 1969. She practiced dentistry on the island until her retirement in 2004, when she moved to Melbourne, Florida.
Marta was a devout daughter, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Puerto Rico, where she was honored to reach the level of Elder. She contributed to her community through her work with her church, including various kinds of volunteering and providing dental services free of charge to those in need.
Marta is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law: Rebeca Dante Vascimini and Pat Vascimini; Maria Dante Zisman and David Zisman; granddaughters Gabi Vascimini, Ava Zisman and Sofía Zisman, her niece Julianize Martínez, and other members of the family.
Marta passed away on June 14, 2023. Her memorial service is at 11:00 am on July 8, 2023 at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home; the funeral will take place at Flagler Memorial Park in Miami, Florida on July 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

La Dra. Marta Victoria Martínez Gutiérrez nació el 8 de Febrero de 1936 en San José de los Ramos, Cuba. Fueron sus padres Mario Martínez Sousa y Victoria Gutiérrez. Hizo sus primeros estudios en distintos pueblos de la provincia de Matanzas, pasando al Colegio La Progresiva de Cárdenas a estudiar bachillerato. Luego se trasladó a la Havana donde estudió odontología en la Universidad de la Havana. Se casó con el Dr. Raimundo Dante en 1958 y por razones políticas, ambos se trasladaron a Maracaibo, Venezuela. Luego de revalidar como dentista trabajó varios años en dicha ciudad. La familia se mudó a Puerto Rico, donde de nuevo Marta revalidó sus estudios y ejerció exitosamente su profesión hasta el año 2004, cuando se jubiló y estableció residencia en Melbourne, Florida.
Marta nos deja un legado de buen ejemplo, tenacidad, y amor al prójimo. Excelente hija, madre, abuela y fiel amiga. Su dedicación a extender sus servicios a quien los necesitara nos hace reconocer su gran amor al prójimo. Marta fué miembra activa de la Iglesia Presbiteriana Unida de Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, donde tuvo el honor de ser Anciana Gobernante.
Marta falleció el 14 de Junio del 2023, en Melbourne, Florida y le sobreviven sus hijas y yernos: Rebeca Dante Vascimini y Pat Vascimini, y Maria Dante Zisman y David Zisman. Sus nietas Gabi Vascimini, Ava Zisman y Sofía Zisman. Su sobrina Julianize Martínez, primos y demás familiares.
El servicio en su memoria será el 8 de Julio de 2023, a las 11:00 am en la funeraria Brownlie-Maxwell, 1010 Palmetto Avenue en Melbourne, Florida. Sus cenizas seran trasladadas al cementerio Flagler Memorial Park, 5301 W Flagler Street, en Miami, Fl donde se oficiará su funeral el 10 de Julio de 2023 a la 1:00 pm.

Marta was related to my mother Gladys Castro. We were all very close to her parents Mario and Victoria. Her father Mario and I were truly kindred spirits. He was a great friend and loyal relative. We were also very close to Marta's late brother, Mayito. I loved him very much. Last night, my mother and I were talking about Marta and how close she was to our family back in Cuba. Then, I came across this obituary. I am heartbroken and so is my mother. Marta was a good woman and we will miss her profusely. My heartfelt condolences to her daughters, her family, and to everyone who loved Marta. May she rest in peace.

Tuve el enorme placer de conocer personalmente a mi prima Marta en vísperas de las Navidades del 2001, en la casa familiar en San Juan, PR.
Ella, y casi toda la familia habían salido al exilio, incluso antes de mi nacimiento y sólo sabía de ellos por lejanas noticias. Pero ese hecho no fue impedimento para recibir siempre de todos ellos mucho afecto y cariño.
Ella fue la última con la que conversaba de tantas cosas de Cuba, de historia familiar, de principios éticos, de religión, arte, entre otros tópicos.
Marta quedará para siempre en mis recuerdos con imágenes que hubiera querido seguir viviendo y disfrutando, pero todos concluimos nuestra estancia aquí, y emprendemos el camino hacia el Señor.
Mi más sentido pésame a sus hijas y esposos, nietas, demás familiares y amistades por su pérdida. Les deseo a todos mucha paz, consuelo, fuerza y sobre todo mucho amor en este momento tan difícil.
Siempre y por siempre en mi corazón, y con la esperanza de que puedan sobrellevar un momento tan triste como este.

I had the enormous pleasure of personally meeting my cousin Marta on Christmas Eve 2001, at the family home in San Juan, PR.
She and almost the entire family had gone into exile, even before my birth, and I only knew about them through distant news. But that fact was not an impediment to receive a lot of affection and love from everyone.
She was the last one with whom I talked about so many things about Cuba, family history, ethical principles, religion, art, among other topics.
Marta will remain forever in my memories with images that I would have wanted to continue living and enjoying, but we all conclude our stay here, and we embark on the path to the Lord.
My deepest condolences to her daughters, their husbands, granddaughters, other relatives and friends for their loss. I wish all of you much peace, comfort, courage, strength and above all much love at this difficult time.
Always and forever in my heart, and in hope that you can bear a moment as sad as this.

Siempre recordaré a mi Martha bella con mucho cariño. Me duele mucho su partida. Pero sabemos que ahora se encuentra en las mansiones celestiales con nuestro Señor. Una vida de ejemplo de fortaleza, integridad, rectitud. Un ejemplo de cristiana que impacto mi vida. Un abrazo para la familia y oramos que el Señor les de el consuelo en estos momentos de pérdida.
