Barbara Simmons DeFillips, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born on January 19, 1933, in Meadville, Pennsylvania to parents Bernard Michael Simmons and Mary Ester Ross.
Throughout her life she touched the hearts of everyone she encountered with her infectious laughter, quick wit, generous hospitality, unwavering compassion, and gentle spirit. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to nurturing her family and spreading joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Francis DeFillips; son, Raymond (Michelle) DeFillips; daughter, Jean Angell; son, Steven (Penny) DeFillips; and grandchildren, Katelyn (Aaron) Nugent, Laura DeFillips, Carley DeFillips, Lisa DeFillips, and Julia DeFillips; and great grandchild, Brooke Nugent.
Barbara’s viewing will be held on April 11, 2024 from 5 pm-8 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32901. Her Funeral Mass will be held on April 12, 2024 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3385 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida 32935. A graveside service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, Florida 32955.
