Herbert C. Sondericker, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, formerly of Roslyn Heights, New York, passed away on June 5, 2022 at the age of 91. Herb was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Sondericker and his brother William Sondericker of New York City, New York.

He is survived by his wife Loretta M. Sondericker of 17 years; son William (Lisa Hogan) of Rochester; daughters Susan McGinty (Sean) of Huntington, New York, Mary Kay Hutzell (Craig) of Amelia Island, Florida, and Jane Sondericker (Joanne Plato) of Satellite Beach, Florida; step children Barbara Craddock (Wayne) and Carol Martz (Julie); grandchildren Kerri Roskot (Matt), Sean McGinty (Katie), Kimberly D’Avino (Rob), Christopher (Brittany), Michael, and Stephen Sondericker and Michelle Skrip (Tim); his great-grandchildren Jack, Kate and Will Roskot, Elle and Luke D’Avino; Henry and Lucy Skrip and extended family and friends who loved him very much.

Herb had a fulfilling 30-year career at Roslyn, New York Public Schools as an English teacher and Department Chairman and coach. He held various coaching positions throughout his career, including football (Assistant and Head Coach at Roslyn High School and Holy Family High School) and Defensive Coordinator (C.W. Post College), baseball (Roslyn High School Varsity 25 years) and basketball (Roslyn Freshman and J.V. and Port Washington Varsity).

Achievements also include degrees from the University of Detroit and Hofstra University. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

His Funeral Mass will be held on June 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3780 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, Florida.

My condolences to all the Sondericker family. I will always remember him as Coach Sondericker, he was my coach at Holy Family in 1975 &1976. He will truly be missed. He was a wonderful person and a terrific coach. Sorry for your loss.
