James D. Roland, II, (63) of Indialantic died unexpectedly on February 5, 2022. James graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in engineering and worked for many years at Lockheed Martin on the U.S. Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Program. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who spent much of his life in nature–keeping bees, raising rabbits, turtles and native Florida plants, fishing, whittling, and biking.

James was preceded in death by his partner, Susan Nason Swilley. He is survived by his children Julian, Gina (Jose Sanchez) and Jose Roland; his parents Jim and Pat Roland; his sister Sandra Roland (Richard Udell); his grandchildren Landon and Ian Roland, Aimara, Nayara, and Nickolas Sanchez-Roland; his nieces Isabel and Rachel Udell, and his nephew Gabe Udell.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 50 W. Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne, Florida.

James was a lifelong friend. We grew up together and he was one of the kindest people I've ever known. James always had a way of seeing the light no matter how dark times could be. I know that his light shines even brighter in the eternity of the afterlife frequency. Until we meet again on the Other Side my friend.
