Pamela F. Jones

Born on July 27, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida
Departed June 26, 2022 in Palm Bay, Florida

Pamela F. Jones, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away Sunday, June 26th, 2022 at the age of 67. Pam was a beautiful soul that brought light to all those around her. Her unexpected passing has shaken countless individuals and families in her hometown of Palm Bay, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Rick Jones; her daughter Angela Jones; her son William Prendergast and fiancé Stacy McHenry; and her son Nicholas Jones and wife Caroline.

Pam was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1954 to parents Harry and Leona Frakes. She spent her adolescent years in Foley, Alabama where she attended Foley High School. She graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1976 with a major in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Pam continued her education at the University of Central Florida, obtaining a master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education (MEd) in 1989.

Pam used her education to positively influence the lives of thousands of children over her career as a teacher. She started her teaching journey as a speech and language pathologist for the Board of Education in Richmond County Georgia. After moving to Florida, she began a long stretch as a special education teacher, earning a nationally recognized Board Certification in Special Education (BCSE). She worked at Mims, Palm Bay, and Port Malabar Elementary schools teaching academic, social, and life skills to elementary school students with learning, emotional, or physical disabilities. She spent the last years of her career teaching intensive reading at Bayside and Heritage High Schools. Pam retired from teaching in 2021 after a 43-year career.

Outside of her devotion to teaching, Pam also loved spending time with family and friends. She loved watching the various sporting events that her children and husband participated in. She always had an affinity for arts and crafts. After her retirement, she became fully involved in designing festive signs and decorations which she often gave as presents to her loved ones. The beach also brought her great joy. But more than anything she enjoyed sitting on the patio accompanied by her two loving dogs Diamond and Hope, either reading a good book or having conversations with family and friends.

Pam will be greatly missed and although she is now gone, she will live in our hearts forever. We ask that all who knew Pam join us to say our final goodbyes on Wednesday, July 6th at the Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32901. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 pm with a service at 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at the link below. Please make your donations in the memory of Pam Jones. You can have email notifications sent to [email protected]. As much as Pam loved flowers, she would be even happier to know that this time of hardship created an opportunity to better the lives of children in desperate need of medical care.
