Robert Roscoe Callahan

Born on November 3 1926 in Orlando, Florida
Departed May 28, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida

Robert (Doc) was born in Orlando, Florida. He met the love of his life, Martha Mae Page, at Sanford High School. He was a member of the Air Force until 1946 and married her at the end of his service.
Robert attended the University of Georgia on a baseball scholarship and then the University of Maryland Dental school on the GI bill. After graduation he opened his dental practice in Indialantic where he practiced until his retirement in 1989.
He and Martha had 8 children; Susan, David, Kit, Pat, Scott, Mark, Jenni and Jill. They had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other children that adopted them.
Sadly Martha passed away in 2006, but he was fortunate enough to connect with the second love of his life, Anna K. Poe. They had 15 wonderful years together before her passing.
His family and friends had many amazing experiences with him in his “toys”, many he built himself which included a commercial fishing boat, an airboat, two helicopters, a Sea Ray amphibian and a Piper Cub aircraft. His love of fishing, diving, flying, skiing and traveling were second to the love he had for his family. Anyone that knew him would tell you that he was and “amazing man!”
There will be a memorial service at Brownlie/Maxwell funeral home on June 24th at 4 o’clock and there will be a celebration of life at the home of Bruce and Kit Alles on July 2nd at 12 o’clock. Close friends and family are welcome to come celebrate.

Dr. Callahan became my dentist in the 50’s. He was a wonderful dentist, very kind, gentle and caring. He was the Doc for my family. Sure did miss him when he retired. Kept up with his adventures with Kit during office cleanings. Loved to hear family stories from Doc. He lived a wonderful, full life. I know he will be missed.
