I have to confess. When we were kids, I was scared of Sandy. That’s because Heather and I were always up to something, and I swear she could take one look at us and know. She’d ask us how church was, and that look on her face told me she knew we were running around the golf course instead of saying our prayers. She never yelled at us or anything, but boy oh boy could she give me that look! She always welcomed me into her house to hang out for a few hours or spend the night. She never said no, even though she knew we’d sneak watching Showtime After Dark when we were only 13 or 14. I loved having dinner at her house and for some reason her mashed potatoes were my favorite. I think I stopped seeing her as a scary mom when Heather had Davin and then Brenna. Anyone could see how much she loved her babies. She’d never want to put them down and loved to hug and kiss on them. That’s one thing I will always remember about her, how much she loved her family. I’m glad she was part of my extended family.
