Vincent Benevente
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Vincent Benevente of Indialantic on January 2nd, 2023, at the age of 93 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Rose Benevente, his children, Buzz Benevente and wife Laura, son, Paul Benevente and wife Anna, and his son Michael Benevente. Vinny leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 7 grandchildren; Rachel and husband Paige, Mark and wife Franca, Jessica, Vincent, Isabella, Luca and Michael and 4 great grandchildren, Tania, Alexander, Samantha and Arabella.
Vince was born in Brooklyn, NY, enrolled in the Army 1951 during the Korean war and returned to Long Island NY where he met his wife Rosie. He was a career man for 30 years with Colonial Sand and Stone and retired as a Metropolitan Insurance Agent. He came to Florida in 1985 to enjoy the good life and rediscovered his love of community and service. Vince served on the Council for The City of Indialantic for 14 years, Budget & Finance Committee, and the Employee Pension Board. He was also very proud to have also been the President of Space Coast League of Cities and to have participated in being an Honor Flight recipient. For the love of his church, his Italian heritage and food, he was also very involved with the Christopher Columbus Club. He also served under Msgr. David Paige as the Head Usher for 18 years at Holy Name of Jesus Church.
One of his proudest moments was when he was recognized by the City of Indialantic naming the Vincent Benevente Sunset Park in his honor on Riverside Drive…you would often see Vince and Rose tidying up the area, along with loyal friends who share their love of their seaside town.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday March 2nd at 11am in the Brownlie – Maxwell Funeral Chapel.
Vince will be laid to rest at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Friday.
